Fab Foundations: 3 New Lingerie Products for Summer

                           by Ali Cudby

It finally feels like Spring has sprung on the east coast after a long, cold gray winter. The warmer temperatures turn a lingerie expert’s to thoughts of the next season. Here are some products that have come across my desk that are particularly good for the Summer to come.

Knock Out outerwear
Solutions garments come to workout wear with Knock Out Panties“Workout Warriors” line. The yoga pants are made from the company’s wicking and odor absorbing fabric. The gusset is lined with their patented liner material, which means no undies required. In addition to the function, the yoga pants offer some fashion details via seaming and a ruffled hemline.

Other items in the Workout Warriors line include a yoga bra, sport thong, and a reversible t-shirt, with a V-neck on one side and scoop neck on the other. All items sport the wicking and odor control properties – always a bonus during the sticky, sweaty months of summer.

Curvy Kate Swim
Curvy Kate, has entered the swim market with a range of offerings that are both on trend and consistent with the Curvy Kate brand personality — fun, flirty and flattering. The bra-style swim tops are supportive, enabling full-busted women a wide range of options in sizes up to a K-cup.

The sample I tried offers a short bottom with an adjustable drawstring side that allows for a customizable, flattering fit.

Tweakerz
Warmer weather seems to go hand-in-hand with exposed bra straps – but it doesn’t have to be. Some brands have begun offering J-hooks in some bras (Chantelle and Panache are just a couple) but for everyone else, there’s Tweakerz

Tweakerz is hypoallergenic, customizable – designed to enable the wearer to decide the amount of adjustment in the back. The more the straps are brought to the center, the more the breasts can be lifted for enhanced cleavage, or simply altered to convert to a racerback style. Each item offers a 3.5 inch range of variation and adjustability.

Online Bra Fit Certification From America’s #1 Bra Coach

Ali Cudby, author of the bestselling book Busted! The Fab Foundations® Guide to Bras That Fit,Flatter and Feel Fantastichas launched the FabFit™ Academy, a comprehensive, online certification course in bra fitting.

The course begins with some free videos designed expressly for the lingerie industry, and offers essential training for people working in all sectors, from retailers and manufacturers to bloggers and
sales reps.
“The best assurance of a profitable return in any Lingerie business is to be consistently trained in the art of bra fitting.,” says industry veteran and Lingerie Briefs Publisher Ellen Lewis.
By outsourcing a repetitive and time consuming task, business owners and managers gain free time to focus on growth.

The FabFit™ Academy offers complimentary online training videos in advance of course registration at FabFitAcademy.com.

“Studies still show that 70--85% of women are wearing bras that fit incorrectly, and it’s time to change those numbers once and for all,” says Cudby.
In America alone, bras account for nearly half of the $14 billion annual lingerie market.
“In other words,” says Cudby, “women are spending almost six billion dollars each year on garments that cause physical ill effects ranging from aches and pains to sagging, stretch marks and worse.”

Cudby has also discovered a connection between the way a woman feels in her bra and how she feels in her body.
“Again and again, the stories are the same, and a single comment from a well--meaning parent, friend or significant other can affect a woman’s self--image.”

The FabFit™ Academy will be delivered online and will consist of weekly modules, Q&A phone calls and a final exam graded by industry experts.

Fab Foundations: Scenes from Paris

                           by Ali Cudby

I was thrilled to attend the Salon International de la Lingerie in Paris this month. The largest lingerie trade show brings the world’s brands to a single location for three days of catwalks, models and — of course – amazing lingerie and accessories.

This show celebrated SIL’s 50th year. The theme was snow, and they didn’t know how right they were! Paris was blanketed by a layer of the cold, white stuff, which is very unusual for the city. I was entertained to see Parisians carrying skis and poles emerging from my Metro stop, near Sacre Coeur.

The theme was incorporated into the show in many surprising ways, such as these 12-foot snowmen, who wandered through the aisles.

Many of the brands incorporated snow into their booths at the show. Here was Aubade’s interpretation.

The 50 Shades of Grey adult toy line had its debut at the show – they will hit the US market in April, so stay tuned for more on this line.

The effect of 50 Shades on the lingerie industry was evident in many collections, such as the Spellbound collection by Coquette, which adds light bondage to bustiers using ribbons attached to the garments.

Shiri Zinn is having fun with the renewed affection for adult toys. In addition to her luxury sex toys (because nothing says “I love you” like a sterling silver, $2000 dildo) she showcased her 1950s-inspired cupcake vibes at the show, giving a whole new meaning to “popping your cherry.”

In addition to the vendors, there were some excellent areas designed to inspire. Here are just a few images from the installations.

Yes, it was cold in Paris…but based on what I saw at SIL, the forecast for lingerie looks hot.
