-Darque 2013 with plus sizing / Monday night Fashion Show / Trip for 2 to Hawaii-
It’s that time of year again and Coquette is gearing up to head to Las Vegas for the International Lingerie Show April 8-10, 2013 held at the Rio Hotel and Casino.
The April International Lingerie Show is the larger of the biannual show and will be the official platform to release the Coquette 2013 Darque catalog. With much anticipation the company is pleased to announce that more styles within Darque are now available in plus. With the increasing demand for additional sizing the introduction of these pieces is expected to be an exceptional selling feature at the upcoming trade show. The designers have created a collection that incorporates more hardware such as grommets, zippers, metal garters and studs in this year’s line compared to last. Being the company’s edgier collection the pieces are designed using materials such as wet look, pleather, PVC, lace, poly-knit blends and Lycra. With these changes the sales team has high expectations for this fashionable line.

“To finally be offering more plus sizing in this already highly popular collection we cannot wait to show it off to our customers in April. The designers have once again done a fantastic job,” said national sales manager Dave George. “This versatile collection continues to impress our customers, and more so than ever this year it can be merchandised as lingerie or as outerwear.”
This year, buyers should expect nothing less than quality designed lingerie, new color themes and exceptional customer service from the sales team on location. The Coquette booth will be filled with samples from the recent collections that will be featured on models during the show, while the sales team will be available to discuss the company and its collections with retailers. The booth will be adorned with the most recent media shots of the lingerie manufacturer’s best selling pieces, and catalogs will be on hand for buyers.
“Again this year, Coquette will be present during the fashion show,” explained vice president of sales and marketing Marcus Horea. “Our team works extremely hard throughout the year to bring only the best designs to our customers and the spring [ILS] show is our chance to really show them off. As always we have an exciting incentive for our buyers who attend the show and encourage our retailers to book their appointments.”![]()
The Monday night fashion show will feature the anticipated bestsellers from Coquette’s Darque, Main and Masquerade collections beginning at 6 p.m. Retailers, buyers and distributors alike will be in the audience to see the newest designs by the international manufacturers. Coquette looks forward to sharing this experience with many of its valued customers on April 8th.
Coquette will be giving away a trip for two to Hawaii once again to one of their lucky buyers! The winner plus a guest will be flown to Honolulu to enjoy a seven night stay at a luxurious Sheraton Resort. Retailers planning on visiting the Coquette booth at the show will have a chance to win. For every $3,000 order that buyers place they will receive a ballot. The draw will take place at 5 p.m. on Tuesday April 9, 2013 at the Coquette booth (No. 724). The winner must be in attendance at the time of the draw.
With just a month to the show, appointment times are booking up fast to meet with the sales representatives. Coquette urges any buyers who plan on attending the show and have not yet scheduled a time to do so as soon as possible.
Coquette looks to impress as always and have an opportunity to meet with existing and new retailers.

Coquette Releases 2013 Main Collection
- Color geared, classic silhouettes & babydolls -
Coquette International released their 2013 Main Collection today in anticipation of the new year.
The company’s newest collection shows off the designers love of color blocking and contrasting elements. Retailers can expect to see stylized images with lilac, navy and nude tones. Several designs throughout the book feature crocheted aspects, having been inspired by outerwear trends, with raised motifs offering texture and depth to the line. With the new design direction, the collection has a wider range of styles, and an expanded plus section due to consumer demand.
“In this collection we wanted showcase pieces geared toward color,” explained senior designer Elaine Carson. “There is an increased amount of stretch lace prints and patterns which we have paired with solid tones to bring out textures, creating definition to those pieces. This is a fun and vibrant collection that we expect will pop in-stores and do well for our retailers.”
Each season, the Coquette design team creates true classics to carry through the catalogs, remaining consistent with silhouettes and fitting. For 2013, the newly designed molded cups, that continue in popularity, can be seen throughout on babydolls and bustiers. The traditional corsetry with flexible boning and structuring is back, and the number of babydolls and their patterns have been enhanced. Within the line, there is a greater variety with differing lengths between the styles.

Additionally, retailers will find the strong selling animal prints have returned with a modern twist. The pieces have been made with leopard print mesh in all black without the two-toned color pieces that have been seen in the past. Finally, the main collection is introducing sequins. Previously only seen in the Holiday line, this sub-collection adds a sparkly flare that pairs perfectly with delicate lace.
“Our 2013 book is upscale with a boutique appeal,”commented vice president of sales and marketing Marcus Horea. “Our team has put together a look that speaks to the Coquette brand and continues to move ahead in their designs. We are very excited to reveal our newest catalog!”
The line is scheduled to hit shelves by early February.

Fab Foundations: LINGERIE FOR THE HOLIDAYS – HELP YOUR CUSTOMER FIND THEIR BLISS
by Ali Cudby
Holiday gifts are fun at any age. Giving lingerie is a double whammy of fun – your lover gets to unwrap the gift, and then you get to unwrap HER when she wears your offering. At the same time, selling lingerie to men is often a different experience than selling to women.
Buyers are — for the most part — purchasing some aspect of a fantasy they envision for the special person in their life (whether the purchasers and receivers are men or women…lots of different people like lingerie and we are all-inclusive). What’s important for a retailer is asking the right questions, so that you’re steering your buyer to the aspect of fantasy your purchasers want most.
EVERY DAY SEXY:
50 Shades of Grey has been a boon to the lingerie market, and has inspired many folks to experiment (in and out of bed). Leia Lingerie, a UK-based retailer, recently reported an 82% increase in basque sales year-on-year and an almost 100% increase in sales of suspender belts as a result of the 50 Shadesphenomenon. Perhaps your customer is seeking something titillating that can be worn every day (or maybe just on date night) – but that is ultimately designed to leave the house.
Adding a basque, waist cincher and/or suspenders is one way to add these elements to a lingerie drawer. The new Chantelle Paris-Paris collection is a luxurious way to bring sexy to every day lingerie.

STAY-AT-HOME SEXY
Sometimes sexy is intended to stay in, rather than go out, and understanding those small but significant differences will help guide your customers to the mood they are trying to set with their gift giving. Sexy sleepwear is a great suggestion, particularly when there’s some question about the recipient’s size, since dazzlers like this Chemise from Shirley of Hollywood are often more forgiving on curves.
FETISH
Perhaps your customer looking to sprinkle a little bondage and/or fetish wear into a lingerie wardrobe. Of course, there are grades of “fet-wear” and understanding what a customer wants is key – it all comes down to asking the right questions and making it easy for them to share what they want. It’s easy for lingerie professionals to get blasé about fet-wear…so remembering that many buyers find it difficult to admit their desires (or even define them) can make for a more relaxed buying experience. Someone who is looking to dabble might be an ideal candidate for Coquette’s new Spellbound Collection.
These beautifully rich, luxurious and demure looking corsets have been designed with a light bondage twist that incorporates the company’s exquisite corsetry with a subtle hint of fetish.
Spellbound consists of three pieces that use a ribbon belt for discreet dual purpose. Whether you are looking for a regular ribbon and bow or want to take it to the next playful level, the ribbons add a nice touch to the lingerie.
COSTUME:
Sometimes, it’s fun to BE the gift under the tree. When your customer mood turns to play, costumes can be an ideal direction. From schoolgirl to a sexy holiday sprite, understanding the role your customer wants to play is key. This costume from Delicate Illusions says it will be a Merry Christmas, indeed!

Whatever your customer chooses, it all comes down to how their gift makes them – and their lover – feel. When buyers feel good, they often buy more. Providing a supportive and positive environment can boost both your customers’ confidence – and your bottom line.

Coquette to Debut First Seasonal Limited Edition Collection
-SS13 to Benefit Breast Cancer Research-
Coquette is thrilled to be debuting their first spring/summer collection and introducing a new catalog to their lingerie repertoire. The Spring/Summer 2013 catalog shows their passion for color, textures and femininity.
Throughout the pages of their lookbook customers will find raspberry, teal, floral prints and baby blue combinations. Delicate bows, jewels and lace details adorn the pieces to offer stylized intimate apparel for all those looking for unique and luxurious lingerie. Coquette’s philosophy shines through in this collection to inspire feeling gorgeous in figure flattering styles designed in fresh summer hues, and bringing out inner beauty.
“The sun filled images of this catalog show the high fashion designs of this collection and the new direction Coquette is heading with its re-branding initiative,” explained vice president of sales and marketing Marcus Horea. “We want to show our retailers and new customers our ability to create stunning lingerie at affordable pricing, that is flattering to all body types.”
With the excitement surrounding the release of this collection the design team wanted to offer more than just beautifully crafted lingerie. Coquette has partnered with Save the ta-ta’s for their SS13 collection and will be donating a percentage of the proceeds to breast cancer research. Funds go directly to researchers who are making groundbreaking progress in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention methods of this prevalent disease.
“This partnership was just the next step to our new collection,” said Horea. “Being in the lingerie industry we wanted to parallel ourselves with a recognized and reputable cause for women. Save the ta-ta’s Foundation is an organization that we support, and look forward to what this new relationship will accomplish.”
SAVE THE TA-TA’S FOUNDATION
Save the ta-tas is the embodiment of clothing designer Julia Fikse’s vision, in response to the reactions she witnessed when two family members were diagnosed with breast cancer within a short period of time. Her concept of using laughter and fun to remove some of the stigma and fear of talking about this horrible disease has been overwhelmingly successful in bringing awareness to a new and receptive audience.
Funds are used primarily to support independent scientific research. Knowing full well Save the ta-tas are a product brand and not experts in reading and selecting grants, they have formed a valuable partnership with Concern Foundation.
