Fab Foundations: CurveNY Lingerie Photo Essay

                           by Ali Cudby

A month after the international lingerie community gathered in Paris, North America flocked to New York for Curve to look at the styles coming to independent lingerie boutiques in AW13. As always, it’s a hectic three days of seeing the latest, getting excited about what’s new, and then feeling frustrated to have to wait for months before being able to actually get hands on these gorgeous garments.

Here are just a few photos from CurveNY.

Relative newcomer Claudette introduced the “Ouvert” line. This sexy entrant features functional buttons down the center of the bra cup and bottom.

Panache’s Sculptresse line, targeting the full-figured market, comes to stores later this month. Sculptresse will expand the brand to include band sizes 42-46 and bottoms up to 6XL. Pictured: “May” full cup bra and short for AW13.

A detail from Empreinte’s tapestry-inspired “Rose” collection

Innerwear as outerwear, with Gossard’s sequined (and aptly named) “Sequin.”

Lula Lu presented “Leya,” a purple underwire mesh set designed for the petite busted, in cup sizes AAA, AA and A.

Lola Haze introduced diffusion line Lola by Lola Haze. These pieces are all at price points under $100 and are available for order now.

Panache married their expertise in sports bras and bra-based swim by offering the sport swim one-piece, for cup sizes C-H.

CURVExpo

CURVExpo set to be hotter than ever
this summer in New York and Las Vegas!

CURVExpo, now in its seventh year, has continued to grow internationally and in the swimwear category.
CURVENY New York will welcome 255 brands, 59% from outside the US. The show will take place on August 5, 6, and 7 in a larger home at the Javits Center. Hall 1E & 1D will allow room for all the new booths and give exhibitors more space to unwind in the expanded lounge area. The dates coincide with the New York Swimwear market week. Top retailers are going to be in the city, and will be able to maximize their time in the newly created CURVENY New York “one stop shop” featuring 72 Swimwear brands. The representation of international brands has grown as well with 151 brands that have a long history of servicing the North American market, such as Canadian brands (26), French brands (26), and UK brands (22). A larger presence of Colombian brands (11) will be noted on the floor; indeed the Free Trade Agreement that was been ratified at the beginning of 2012 now makes Colombian Brands extremely attractive in many respects: styling and fit, price positioning, and service flexibility.
Innovation is the perfect adjective used to describe the best the August 2012 New York and Las Vegas Shows: On one side, brands have worked very hard not only coming up with new designs, fabrics, and products, but also with immediate delivery programs and private label possibilities. On the other side retailers will discover 80 newcomers to the shows. To mention a few: Calvin Klein Swim, DO Paris (The new hot swimwear brand at the Bon Marche Paris), Ella Moss and Splendid (with their brand new lingerie Lines), It Figures (with its new revamped swimwear line), Paladini Italy (with its super elegant lingerie line), Vince Camuto (with its one of a kind Hollywood-feel swimwear line), and Nicole Miller shapewear knows how to make shapewear so classy…
Then the show goes on the road to Las Vegas, where it will showcase the Spring/Summer 2013 designs of 158 Brands, 50% of which are Swimwear Brands, to west coast retailers at the exquisite Venetian Hotel from August 21-23.
Joining CURVENV Las Vegas this year are more than 71 designer swimwear lines giving a sneak peek at their new looks. This is the first time so many swimwear brands will preview their latest collections in one location.
CURVENV Las Vegas has become the ultimate resource for all retailers West of the Mississippi and from Canada by offering a classy and professional environment as well as the best of the best Brands representation on the West Coast. As such, CURVENV is now being thought of as the Swim Fashion Week of Las Vegas!
Both the New York and Las Vegas shows will feature networking events, seminars, parties, and runway fashion shows in order to give attendees a fully rounded experience. Among other events, attendees can RSVP online for: The Get Together Breakfast Seminar, held the first day of each show as a key debriefing meeting for retailers to have an overview of the show. The LELO seminar in New York will unveil a new product category that brings traffic and revenue to the store, The Yin and Yang of Lingerie: “How to increase revenues by expanding product selection and become a ‘Sensual Stylist.’ And a very important sourcing seminar, “Colombia your new sourcing destination, aiming at efficiency and competiveness,” which should be attended by all production managers.
New this season: The So CURVE Fashion Shows, performed by the Crazy Horse Paris dancers, will pay a unique tribute to lingerie and swimwear brands from around the world and their impressive Spring/Summer 2013 Collections in each show. The fashion shows will take place on Monday, August 6th at 6 pm on site at the Javits Center in New York, and in Las Vegas on Tuesday, August 21st at 7:30 pm at the Crazy Horse Theater located in the MGM Hotel. The spectacular choreography and VIP attendees will contribute to a memorable evening celebrating the exciting world of lingerie and swimwear.
LELO, the leading designer brand for Intimate lifestyle products is the presenting SPONSOR of the So CURVE So Swim Fashion Show in Las Vegas, as they are now very famous in the Industrywww.lelo.com
Vente Privee with American Express, will organize daily brand sales events featuring more than 1,200 major international brands, and will also be the general sponsor of the August 2012 Shows.www.vente-privee.com
As CURVExpo is completing the preparation of its August 2012 shows, it is interesting to consider the recent changes this organization has gone through, and what it means for the US market. The new acquisition of CURVExpo by Eurovet, the world leader at the helm of seven textile and fashion-related fairs, such as Salon International de La Lingerie and Interfilière/Mode City, opens the field for CURVExpo’s future expansion into new markets in Europe and In Asia. In turn, CURVExpo strengthens Eurovet’s position in the Americas and opens the US market to its European exhibitors.
