Fab Foundations: It’s All In The Details

                by Ali Cudby

I’m always struck by the challenge of photographing lingerie. By the time you get far enough away to see an entire garment, you can lose sight of the details that make it truly spectacular.

Here are some of my favorite details from Lingerie Fashion week and CurveNY A/W14.

Kix’ies Thigh Highs, Lingerie Fashion Week
Using contortionists and acrobats to demonstrate the product’s ability to stay up. Brilliant!

Arsenic et Vielles Dentelles, Lingerie Fashion Week
Although not in the line sheets, this juxtaposition of soft materials and bondage intent was a delightful and fun take on lingerie-as-fetishwear (or vice versa).

Dirty Pretty Things, CurveNY
The gold leather manages to make this piece somehow 80s and 20s at the same time.

Simone Perele, CurveNY
The pretty velvet bow, the eyelash lace details, the oh-so on trend purple. I just adored the attention to detail here.

Prima Donna Twist at CurveNY
Handcuff embellishments? That ain’t your mama’s Prima Donna!

Empreinte, CurveNY
Celebrating 5 years of seamless molded lace technology, Empreinte is offering a special bonus with the purchase of these limited edition bras – the guipure detachable back piece. A true showstopper.

Cleo by Panache, CurveNY
“Crafted for fit. Styled for fun.” The Kali bra by Cleo has a hidden message for its wearers.

Sometimes the best details are fleeting – this image was captured from the Lingerie Fashion Week site. The City and its gorgeous lingerie was the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Whitney Thompson Shows Figure in Panache’s New Lingerie Campaign

Remember Whitney Thompson from America’s Next Top Model? She won back in 2008 and was the first plus-size winner in the history of the show.
She is the new face of Panache’s lingerie line. The size 16, 26-year-old model poses for the retro style photo shoot, wearing a bright purple bra and bikini underwear in a pink ’50s style diner.
She dons a fierce cat eye, voluminous hair and a pretty pale pink lip. And in one photo she sits underneath an old-fashioned hair dryer wearing nothing but hair rollers and a bright pink lingerie set.

Whitney’s modeling career is about more than just selling clothes. The size-16 beauty has made it her mission to help prove that you don’t need to be a size zero to confidently embrace your body.
And so it makes perfect sense that she would choose this lingerie line to model for. Instead of sending the message that plus-size models should cover up, or “focus on playing up their facial features,” Whitney encourages embracing your whole body.

Fab Foundations: What’s New For Full Busts?

               by Ali Cudby

As part of the Fab Foundations mission to enhance retailers and help them serve their customers, each month we profile products that are new in stores. This month we look at a few new entrants for the full-busted woman.

Do you have a product you’d like to see included? Just email info@fabfoundations.com for more information.

Panache Sport Swim

Sometimes, at Curvexpo, I see something that is truly exciting – it’s new, it’s different and it’s a product that will help women find a specific solution. A couple shows ago, seeing the Panache sport swimsuit for the first time, was one of those moments. The Panache sport bra has been a fan favorite since its launch a few years ago. Integrating that sports bra into a swimsuit marks Panache’s entry into the “Sport” category means the same award-winning technology from the Panache sports bra is now available in the pool. Full-busted swimmers have had an increasing number of fashion swim items, and having something for athletic swimming is a welcome extension, whether training for a triathlon or simply swimming for a little exercise.

The Panache sport swimsuit is available in sizes 28-40, D-H.

Lunaire Raquel

The fashion-forward and wallet-friendly Lunaire brand offers the Raquel to the full-bust woman, as part of their Simply Sexy by Lunaire line. The bra is a European semi-demi, 3-part cup featuring a lace top cup and strap, with an animal printed microfiber bottom cup. Red embellishments stand out against the fabric for a pop of color. From a fit perspective, the cup’s side slings keep busts inside the rib cage, and firm straps help ban the bounce.

Available in 34-40C and 32D-40DDD. Bottoms in S-XXL.

Shock Absorber Active D+ Flexiwire

Leading sports bra brand Shock Absorber has a new option for full-busted women looking for the perfect sports bra to pair with their exercise regime – perfect for the New Year’s Resolution time of year!

The sports bra features an advanced, flexible underwire for optimal comfort.
Fans of the bestselling non-wired version – N109 Active D+ Classic Support – will appreciate having a choice of non-wired and wired styles. The bra offers wide, padded adjustable straps, and a soft, wide underband for comfort. The non-rub, 3-row hook & eye closure mean floor work without hooks and eyes digging in uncomfortably. Of course, this new style incorporates the performance fabrics with moisture wicking and breathability that customers expect from Shock Absorber.

Sizes begin with 30D and go to 38H.
